Loyola University, Chicago, Burners Without Borders and the Chicago Art Department invite you to be part of the 7th annual Earth Night celebration! As part of North Shore Earth Week’s annual festivities, Earth Night brings together artists and community members to create art for the Earth.
This year, Loyola’s Department of Fine and Performing Arts is opening its doors to the newly refurbished facilities at the Mundelein Center t…o host Art School for the Earth.
Participants will have unique opportunities to work with accomplished artists and community organizations in creative workshops that highlight our connection to the planet through their materials and/or their message.
PROGRAM:
8pm Doors Open – Food and Beverages Served
8:30-9:30 – Opening Reception
9:30-1:30am – Workshops/Galleries/Lounge Open
1:30-2am – Closing Reception
WORKSHOPS include:
– Collage and Heat Press Printing led by Nathan Peck (Chicago Art Department, St. Xavier University)
– Screen Printing led by Shorty Belle (TransAmoeba/Catalyst Collective, Burner’s Without Border’s)
– Super Crafty Crappy Trash Sculpture led by Aaron Benedict (Artisans in Construction, TransAmoeba/Catalyst Collective)
– Stop Motion Video led by Eric Merkaba (Merkaba Visuals, TransAmoeba/Catalyst Collective)
– Mural Painting led by Art Forward – pieces will be put up on boarded-up houses on Chicago’s south side.
– Environmental Guilt Writing Workshop led by Yana Passater
– Paper-Making led by Deni Gottlieb

eARTh Night VII: Planet Art School is hosted by Loyola University Chicago in partnership with Burners Without Borders and the Chicago Art Department, with support from Alderwoman Mary Ann Smith, neighboring Chambers of Commerce, The Rebuilding Exchange, and community organizations from Andersonville, Edgewater, Lincoln Square, Ravenswood, Rogers Park, and Uptown.
