Bio:
Jeekoos (the English spelling of the Polish word Dzikus, loosely translated as “a feral woodsman”)
Born in Poland, influenced by his cousin who played bass in various bands, he wanted to go the same route. It wasn’t until he migrated to the U.S. that he finally got a bass guitar of his own and started playing in punk/metal bands around Chicago. Enjoying some electronic music here and there, nothing was stimulating his musical taste quite enough. Always favoring the more intense sound, a house party at the turn of the century introduced Jeekoos to jungle/drum and bass. He fell in love. While already producing hip hop and breakbeat type madness in the late 90′s, he started fusing more DnB style intensity into his productions, which came very naturally and his tracks started getting some radio play on WNUR 89.3fm in Chicago.
In early 2000, Jeekoos joined the Part Time Sucker Radio crew, delivering bass music selections to ever growing audiences throughout the world via various radio stations; WNUR 89.3fm, www.dnbradio.com, www.destroyer.net and eventually www.dubstep.fm.and ran the show alone for a few years, forcing him to start DJing, rapidly expanding his music collection to come fresh on weekly basis.
At the end of 2008, Jeekoos was offered an hour of saturday night airtime on KAKU radio, 88.5fm on the island of Maui, creating SUB808 radio that featured his mixes as well as countless guests from around the globe. The program lasted about a year, when management decided to kick off all of the programming and play Hawaiian and country music only.
Jeekoos has supported acts ranging from Kid Cudi & Lupe Fiasco to Datsik & Caspa or even the likes of Mala, and everywhere in between.
Jeekoos is influenced by pretty much everything around him, art, people or situations, loving the constant progression of the sound, music has always played a major role in his life and it nothing suggest that it will stop anytime soon…
